Paryushan Mahaparva 2020

We bring you this unique online Paryushan Mahaparva programme. Paryushan is a festival of forgiveness. It is a time to reflect on the year and repent for any hurt caused through mind, body and speech. It is a time to control one’s senses, withdraw one’s awareness from the wants, the likes and the dislikes and to strive for inner equanimity, stillness and peace. It is a time to stop the influx of karmas and to shed those that are bound. This is a powerful opportunity for transformation. Build your will-power and inner strength. Keep your end goal in focus and strive with conviction and enthusiasm.

Br Vikrambhai’s poem on forgiveness:

The Grace that delivered Tokarshibhai

57a new.jpg

Intro: Param Krupaludev Shrimad Rajchandraji redeemed Tokarshibhai’s last moments to keep him in peace. It is only at the feet of a self-realised person that we can find deliverance from our existential angst.

WhatsApp Image 2020-08-05 at 12.17.13.jpeg

At a time when days are stretching into weeks, and weeks into months without any end in sight to our locked down existence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, saints and seers say the best use of our time would be to turn inward. There is no time like the present to make the most of our birth and fulfil the true purpose of our lives.

Being holed up at home, with minimal interaction with the outside world, is a golden opportunity to recharge our spiritual pursuit which we otherwise seem to have little time for. This is the time to dwell on and experience firsthand the meaninglessness of our worldly existence, understand how little we really need to survive and yet how much more we crave for, feel the momentariness of all that we have including our acquired identities, and perceive the finiteness of life in the pall of death hanging over us every single moment.

In order to help us appreciate the spiritual import in our current circumstances and to rise above our sansaric fears, it would be pertinent to visit an apt video message by Param Pujya Bhaishree delivered on Param Krupalu Dev Shrimad Rajchandra’s Dehvilay Din, Chaitra Vad 5, that fell on April 12, 2020.

Bhaishree expressed his gratitude to Shrimadji who, in his sublime state of knowledge, gave us a perfect understanding of the Moksh Marg (path to salvation) bestowed on him by Bhagwan Mahavir. Stressing our immense fortune in having had access to Shrimadji and his teachings, he said, “To find such an extraordinarily gifted and evolved person in this age is unusual. And, one of his noblest virtues was the boundless karuna (compassion) in his heart.”

Two incidents, in particular, offer us valuable insights into the depths of Shrimadji’s kindness and compassion.

The first incident is about Tokarshibhai Pitamber, who had passed away after being afflicted by plague. When Padamsibhai went to offer his condolences to his brother, Devchandbhai, the latter told him, “Padamsibhai, we did not realise the greatness of Shrimadji. All these days, we saw him as a man of letters, a poet. But yesterday, we witnessed his divine powers and we were stumped.”

Narrating his experience, Devchandbhai said, “Tokarshibhai’s fever and tumour pains were so severe that he would talk deliriously all the time; he would jump out of his bed and flee. It needed all the strength of four people to hold him back and pin him to the bed. Yesterday, around 2 pm, Shrimadji arrived at our shop and asked, ‘How is Tokarshi Mehta?’ We said, ‘He is extremely unwell.’ Shrimadji asked us all to move away from his bed. When we told him that if we did, Tokarshibhai would run away, Shrimadji said, ‘No, he won’t.’ “Honouring his request, we moved away and Shrimadji sat near Tokarshibhai. Five minutes later, Tokarshibhai asked him respectfully, ‘Kaviraj (as he called Shrimadji), when did you arrive?’ Shrimadji said, ‘About five minutes ago. How are you?’ Tokarshibhai said, ‘I am alright but the lump is painful.’

“After a while, Tokarshibhai asked his son, Hemchand, to arrange for a few cups of tea. When Shrimadji asked him, ‘For whom?’, he said, ‘For all the four who were seated here earlier (he named each one) and me. For you, we will get special tea.’ He remained cognisant and peaceful for the next half hour.

57a new.jpg

“Thereafter, Shrimadji left for his shop. About five minutes later, Tokarshibhai’s health deteriorated. We sent for Shrimadji. However, he told our messenger, ‘Whatever happens, happens because it is meant to,’ and refused to come.

“Around 7 PM the same day, Shrimadji came visiting and asked, ‘How is Tokarshibhai?’ Devchandbhai said, ‘The illness is worsening and he is getting weaker.’ Again, Shrimadji asked all of us to leave him. We moved away towards the walls of the hall. Shrimadji sat near Tokarshibhai’s bed and made some movements with his lips, hands and eyes.

“In about five minutes, Tokarshibhai regained consciousness and asked him politely, ‘Kaviraj, when did you come?’ Shrimadji said, ‘About five minutes ago. How are you?’ Tokarshibhai replied, ‘I am alright. There is no pain.’

“After a while, Tokarshibhai recited some Sanskrit shlokas. Shrimadji asked him where he had heard those. Tokarshibhai said, ‘About ten years ago, you had uttered these shlokas when doctor (Dr Pranjivandas), you and I were out in the Idar jungles. Two of them are very good, worth writing down.’

“After some time, Shrimadji asked him, ‘How are you?’ Tokarshibhai said, ‘I am feeling good.’ When he was asked the same question a few minutes later, he replied, ‘I am feeling elated; it is a kind of happiness I have never felt before.’

“Shrimadji then ran his hand aerially over his navel up to his head and sat away. He then told us, ‘Tokarshi Mehta has left his body but nobody should go near his body for the next 45 minutes.’ Later, Shrimadji walked to the crematorium too.”

Padamsibhai writes that after hearing this unusual story from Devchandbhai, he immediately went to the office of Sheth Revashankar Jagjivan Company. He writes, “After offering my respects to Pujyashri (Shrimadji), I asked him, ‘You helped Tokarshibhai in some mysterious way. Would you kindly explain it to me?’ Pujyashri said, ‘Yes, it is possible. Pranvayu (oxygen) works in relation to apanvayu (another gaseous energy that facilitates many bodily functions). It is apanvayu which pulls breath into the body each time, a process called inhalation, and pranvayu oxygen pulls breath out from within the body, a process called exhalation. Pranvayu and apanvayu work in tandem. Whenever the association between the two ends and they separate, we say the person has breathed his last. The soul’s leshya (karmic impressions on the soul) in its last moments determines its gati (its evolutional journey) and it is possible to change the soul’s leshya. You won’t understand anything more than this except by experience.’ ”

What extraordinary compassion! Mumbai was in the grip of an epidemic then as it is now. The lessons hold true even today. Tokarshibhai was a good soul and had the privilege of experiencing Shrimad’s powerful spiritual prowess and overwhelming kindness that uplifted him. No doctor could bring him the relief that Shrimadji brought him and after bringing him to a state of equilibrium, Shrimadji seemed to have lifted him to a higher state of being by the sheer strength of his soul.

Tejovalay_poster_Rajkot_Guj copy-001.jpg

Tokarshibhai was delivered into a state of bliss by the divine grace of a benefactor of Shrimadji’s stature. Such is the supreme degree of benevolence, compassion and grace of a self-realised soul that they strive to help everyone not just be at peace but also pull them out of the vice grip of sansaric rut that we are otherwise doomed to ride mercilessly till the end of time.

All it requires to get out of the cycle of births and deaths is to find a Sadguru (Enlightened Master) and do what he says. It is only the supremely fortunate who get the opportunity to find a Sadguru and redeem their human birth. We are blessed to have found a Sadguru in Param Pujya Bhaishree whose compassion and grace have touched each and every seeker’s life in an enduring way.

IMG_1102-001.jpg

Once we have a Guru’s hand on our heads, the most difficult part of the journey is already over. Under his guidance and grace, we need to rid ourselves of the attachment to sansaric values, cleanse and refine our inner selves to the point that we become worthy of receiving his grace.

The second incident that Bhaishree narrated pertains to Shrimadji’s domestic helper, Lalu. Lalu, a resident of Morbi, stayed with him for many years. A tumour grew on his body when they were in Mumbai. Shrimadji would clean the lump himself. Resting Lalu’s head on his lap, he took care of Lalu right till the latter’s last moments.

57b.jpg

Bhaishree said both incidents demonstrate the high degree of compassion in Shrimadji. At a time like this, when we are rendered immobile and helpless by the Corona pandemic, we are consumed by all kinds of anxieties and problems. Our spiritual quest seems ironically hobbled by our sansaric limitations when the current conditions actually offer a perfect template for spirituality.

Bhaishree read out letter number 217 of Vachanamrut which Shrimadji wrote to Saubhagbhai, “Let whatever happens happen. Do not be indifferent or inactive; do not wish for God’s intervention or get confused. If, as you say, ego is getting in the way, resist it as much as possible. Even after all your efforts, if it refuses to go away, surrender it to God. However, do not feel weighed down (by your circumstances) and do not think about what will happen; and whatever you can do, continue doing. Do not have even the slightest fear. Do not worry about the future even for one single moment and the habit of worrying that has been formed (over the years) should be steadfastly shed.”

Bhaishree says that if a seeker builds his character in this manner and absorbs the true sense of this letter, it is more than possible to make spiritual progress in leaps and bounds even in these trying circumstances.

Dharmishtha’s Journey; how the Ashirwad Trust helped a young girl find her independence

Name: Dharmishtha Surendrasingh Parmar

Disability: Cerebral Palsy

Admission date at the Centre: 10/06/2008

Duration at the Centre: 12 years

Family occupation: Driving

About Dharmishtha:

17 year old Dharmishtha is an enthusiastic girl with a smiling face. She has immense grit. Given her optimistic attitude, she is always willing to grasp opportunities given to her.

Cause of Disability:

Dharmishtha did not cry post birth and just three days after birth, she experienced a jerk that led to Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral Palsy affected her mobility as well as speech.

Relationship with Family:

Dharmishtha is raised in a middle class joint family. There are five members in the house. All of them take good care of her and treat her respectfully.

Family hardships:

Owing to her impaired mobility, the family endured struggles initially in taking care of her daily routine. Dharmishtha was unable to sit by herself until she was 3 years old. Attending social events, going to religious places or for physiotherapy became challenging as the family members had to carry her wherever she went.

DSCN1210.JPG

Student Needs:

Dharmishtha required physiotherapy, speech therapy and training to perform various activities of daily living such as brushing, eating and dressing independently. Additionally, to overcome social exclusion, she required training and empowerment to participate in social functions.

Support provided by Ashirwad Trust for the Disabled, Sayla:

Dharmishtha was provided with a medical certificate, identity card, Sant Soordas Health Policy benefits, a Cerebral Palsy chair and an educational kit. She was also given presents such as firecrackers, kites, water guns, etc during the celebration of festivals.

Intervention at Ashirwad Trust for the Disabled:

At the centre, Dharmishtha primarily underwent physiotherapy and was prescribed medication by Dr. Paresh Shah.

She was enrolled in a day-care centre where she received various mobility training that included sitting with and without support, helping her stand and eventually walk with the help of a walker. She was also provided educational and intellectual training at the centre.

Intervention Outcome:

As a result of such extensive training and support, Dharmishtha showed great progress as she could sit independently and stand with only the support of a chair or window frame. Thereafter, she could walk with support.

She is now able enough to take part in the ‘Khel Mahakumbh’, organised by the State of Gujarat, and enthusiastically participates in cultural programs.

Dharmishtha is  able to write numbers and letters with the assistance of her teachers; as well as recognise colours, shapes, animals, birds, vegetables and also identify her fellow classmates.

Consequent to the academic training, Dharmishtha can now grasp and comprehend concepts well. As a matter of pride, she has cleared the Secondary Board exams and is now studying in class XII.

Currently, with her family support and the Centre’s initiatives, Dharmishtha stays busy in her daily routine.

Testimonial of Dharmishtha’s father, Mr Surendrasingh Parmar

"I express my gratitude towards the staff of the Ashirvad Trust who provided Dharmishtha with the wide-ranging support she needed and treated her with the patience and love only a family can. Initially, Dharmishtha was not keen on attending school but meeting children of her age and receiving the care and tenderness of the staff, she now enjoys attending school. The teachers at the school taught her how to eat independently. They patiently help feed Dharmishtha when she faces difficulty in eating her food.

In fact, during this lockdown she misses her friends and the activities which she used to engage in at school. Before her admission to the centre, Dharmishtha was barely active and would remain sleeping or lying down, completely dependent on us for her needs. However now, though she has difficulty in mobility and speech, she can perform a lot of activities independently. It is not just the fact that she undertakes activities independently that matters; she has been given the encouragement and self-belief that she is capable. She has a sharp mind and strong reflexes and likes to learn and grasp new things. Also, her interests in computers and other digital devices are developing.

Presently, Dharmishtha is studying in class XII and we sincerely believe she can offer something constructive to society, based on the rehabilitation and care she has received."

Raj Saubhag Dubai celebrates 15 years of unbroken chain of swadhyays

With great enthusiasm, Dubai group planned their online celebration of 15 years of uninterrupted swadhyay. A special 12-minute film – ‘Aho Vachanamrut’ was produced for the occasion, and each mumukshu selected a sentence from the Vachanamrut, which they recited live in the presence of Brahmnishths Vikrambhai and Minalben.  Pujya Bhaishree blessed and encouraged the group with a special swadhyay and ashirvachan.

15-year celebration.jpg

On Friday 26th June, Brahmnishth Vikrambhai inaugurated the programme with the manglacharan and a bhajan, sharing with the mumukshus how Pujya Bhaishree is present in every happy, not-so-happy moments of our lives, how all of us see the world through His eyes, are alive with His breath, and will cross this ocean of birth and death with His grace.

15 years 3.jpg

Following which was Pujya Bhaishree's param satsang on “Sarvangi Vikas”. Pujya Bhaishree emphasised that along with swadhyays; mumukshus must strive to bring change in their temperament and nature. There must be a reduction in raag-dvesh, anger, deceit, ego and greed.  Mere accumulation of knowledge, without accompanying changes in one’s nature, will not result in spiritual progress, he said. Highlighting another point, Pujya Bhaishree said that ‘while pursuing the spiritual path, there will be many obstacles on the way’.  A mumukshu should not cower under challenges and face them fearlessly and with equanimity, moving ahead undaunted.

15 years 2.jpg

After the film show, and Vachanamrut Vachans, Brahmnishth Minalben sent her good wishes to every member of the group, while recounting and applauding their journey so far.  Encouraging each mumukshu to continue forging selfless bonds with one another while not forgetting one’s duty, Minalben blessed everyone with the words, ‘may you progress so fast, that you all have fewest births’.

The programme ended with samuh arti and mangal divo.  The youngest mumukshus of the group welcomed and thanked Pujya Bhaishree, Vikrambhai and Minalben for gracing the occasion.

A special mention here of yuva mumukshu – Veer Doshi – who wrote an impromptu poem, after listening to Pujya Bhaishree’s swadhyay and recited it in the presence of Vikrambhai and Minalben spontaneously, without any pre-preparation. (We have posted this amazing piece of poetry at the end of the article)

Recounting the 15-year journey, a mumukshu said: “When Pujya Bhaishree landed in Dubai in 2005, a small but faithful group of mumukshus received Him at the airport with overflowing bhakti-bhaav.  In 2005, there were not too many mumukshus who were initiated on the path, but with successive dharma yatras, more and more people were drawn to the path due to the simplicity and divinity of Pujya Bhaishree’s words and persona.

Starting with a group of 3, today there are approximately 60 mumukshus-jignashus closely connected with Raj Saubhag Dubai.  During Pujya Bhaishree’s first visit itself (Pujya Bhaishree had come to Dubai for a dharma-yatra before 2005 - but we are chronicling events from 2005), 6 mumukshus gratefully accepted arpanta.”

“As Pujya Bhaishree was leaving to go back to India in 2005, mumukshus requested for agna to start regular swadhyay.   Pujya Bhaishree willingly consented, while orienting the sadhaks, “Remember always to never break the chronology of swadhyay.  Even if there are 2 people present (in situations when people are travelling or unwell), do not cancel even a single swadhyay.” These visionary words set the tone for the coming years, with mumukshus firm in their resolve to never miss a single swadhyay and in 15 years, Dubai group feels proud that never was a single swadhyay cancelled!!”

Pujya Bhaishree also put Brahmnishth Minalben in charge of the Dubai group.  For more than fourteen years now, mumukshus are sending their monthly agna-reports to Minalben.  All the reports are meticulously reviewed and filed by her, and every mumukshu is given individual and complete marg-darshan.  Everyone in the group feels Minalben is only a phone call away and she immediately (after consulting with Pujya Bhaishree) offers guidance, counseling, direction, advice and assistance.  All Dubai mumukshus are as grateful for having Brahmnishth Minalben in their lives, as they are for having the sanctuary of Pujya Bhaishree and Brahmnishth Vikrambhai.

“After about 2 years of unbroken of swadhyay (every Friday, when mumukshus read the Vachanamrut), mumukshus requested for agna for a second swadhyay mid-week.  Graciously consenting, Pujya Bhaishree gave agna for collective reading of Adhyatma Rajchandra.  Though mumukshus found the language extremely ornate, with divine grace they were able to benefit immensely from this insightful, literary treasure.  Swadhyay of Adhyatma Rajchandra continued unbroken for 10 years on every Sunday evening.”

“Pujya Bhaishree’s successive dharma yatras to Dubai led to more and more people accepting the path with gratitude in their hearts.   After another 2 years, mumukshus once again requested Pujya Bhaishree for yet one more mid-week swadhyay (every Wednesday evening) – and in this way for about 10 years – 3 swadhyays are held every week in Dubai.”

The granths that mumukshus have been referring during swadhyay are Vachanamrutji, Adhyatma Rajchandra (completed twice) now Vairagya Shatak (every Sunday evening), Mokshmala, Prerak Prasango (both completed) now Shikshamrut swadhyay (every Wednesday evening).

“During Pujya Bhaishree’s 2017 dharma yatra, young mumukshus from the group requested for starting of a Yuva swadhyay.  On receiving His agna, the youth group enthusiastically started once-monthly swadhyay for one year and then increased their swadhyays to once every fortnight.”

With every Dubai Dharma Yatra, more and more people have come under the shelter of our Enlightened Master and with His guidance are walking on the moksh marg, trying to reach their goal of Samkit and Atma Gnan.

Brahmnisht Vikrambhai's poem for Dubai mumukshus

Brahmnisht Minalben's poem

Dubai the incredible and wonderful city of gold
has mumukshus who are talented manifolds

They may have distinct work strata and are of different ages
but their hearts are carved only with words of the sages

Their devotion is overwhelming and their unity is commendable
Their faith in the trinity and instructions of Pujya Bhaishree are forever stable

Their performances for Pujya Bhaishree are always unique and full of innovation
They pray together, they party together and their lives are indeed a celebration

They in their own way regularly do humanitarian works
Immaculately abiding by Gyaan, Bhakti and Nishkaam Karma Yog frameworks.

Their fortunate kids of varied aptitudes are a real treasure
They have inherited this great legacy and their lives are full of pleasure.

May Pujya Bhaishree always shower HIS choicest blessings on all of you
May you all reach the pinnacle of spirituality and have lifetimes only a few.

Devoted Listening Embodied - Poem by Br Minalben

As we celebrate Guru Purnima, we have the opportunity to recollect the virtues of Param Pujya Guruma, as expressed by Brahmnishth Minalben. The still, silent, striving Guruma embodied Shravan Bhakti, devoted listening, as this moving poem explains.

In Veneration, we bow at your lotus feet Gurumaa.

In Silence her Soul we find, A divine gleam of a mother so kind.

Consciousness she kept manifesting, Peacefully quiet she kept resting.

She sat on the armchair doing nothing, No one knew, how heaps of karmas she kept busting.

Wealth in abundance all around, Yet true treasures within she found.

Like a lotus in a pond, she remained untouched, In blissful privacy she remained clutched.

Drenched in Bapujis' holy showers, By deep contemplation she empowers.

From letters of vachanamrut, she gained insights, In meditation, like a sheath, the body divides.

Gnansaar and Adhyatmasaar were her favourite texts, A pinnacle of spirituality she apexed. Today we promise to strive, By living your virtues we shall keep you alive.

The Journey of this Soul from Nigod to Moksh,

ચરમાવર્ત હો ચરમરકણ તથા રે, ભવપરિણતી પરિપાક;
- Shri Sambhavnath Bhagwan’s Stavan – Shri Anandghanji M.aharaj Saheb

There are endless beings in “Nigod”, it is extremely difficult to be free from its shackles, even after a passage of time which seems like an eternity. Param Pujya Bhaishree, through two Swadhyays, will shed light on the path that a soul will travel in his journey starting from “Nigod” till he meets a Sadguru and reaches his final cycle of birth and death.

The topic of his first Satsang to be telecast is ”આત્માનો વિકાસ ક્રમ : નિગોદથી ચરમાવર્ત કાળ સુધી”

According to Jain philosophy, even after the soul traverses from NIGOD, it takes embodiment for innumerable lifetimes. If the soul is “Bhavya“ (capable of liberation), then due to specific karmas, it enters its last cycle of birth and death (Charmavart Kaal). At this stage, once the soul achieves “Samyak Darshan” (Self Realisation), then it will certainly attain Liberation, within a maximum time of "Half Pudgal Paravartan Kaal”. We have a Divine Master, have utmost faith in HIM, know the path to liberation by HIS grace. If we do not experience our soul now, then when will we do it ?

Param Pujya Bhaishree will be concluding the ever so important topic of a soul’s journey from NIGOD till MOKSH with a second swadhyay titled “આત્માનો વિકાસ ક્રમ : અપુનરબંધક અવસ્થા - પ્રથમ ગુણસ્થાનક સુધી”

Online Shibir - May 2020 - Updesh Chayya 4 & 5

We will be sharing the digital shibir here on the website and on whatsapp for our Mumukshus for 4 days over 2 weekends: 2 - 3rd & 9 - 10th May 2020.

As in Shibir we encourage you to
