A Complete Change in My Temperament Due to Shrimad Rajchandra’s Divine Influence

Before I came into Shrimad’s divine association, my temperament was that of an aggressive and quarrelsome person. Even the slightest provocation would make me extremely angry. Naturally, people preferred to keep a safe distance from me.  

It is without doubt the fruition of some extraordinary good deed from the past that led me to an elevated soul like Shrimad, in this life. By listening to Shrimad’s words of spiritual wisdom, which reflect the highest truth, I was able to increase my awareness and also my ability to discriminate between truth and illusion.

Since then, there has been a complete shift in my perception and my approach to life. It is only due to my Guru Shrimad’s grace, that my passion of intense anger has diminished to a significant extent. This effortless positive transformation in my disposition has made me more straightforward and light-hearted. I no longer react negatively to any criticism received and instead take it in stride. This positive transition has not gone unnoticed and I have received several compliments and words of encouragement from family and friends.

Shrimad, my Guru, my Lord,  has come into my life and transformed it in the most beautiful way.

શ્રીમદ્જીનો દિવ્ય સત્સમાગમ મળ્યા પૂર્વે મને એટલો બધો ક્રોધ કષાય વર્તતો હતો કે સહજ બાબતમાં પણ હું તપી જતો, અને ક્રોધાતુર થઇ દરેકની સાથે તકરાર કરતો. જેથી લોકોમાં મારી એવી છાપ પડી ગઈ હતી કે આ માણસને છંછેડવા જેવો નથી. બને ત્યાં સુધી લોકો મારાથી દૂર જ રહેવાનું પસંદ કરતાં. એવામાં મારા ઉત્કૃષ્ટ પુણ્યોદયે મને શ્રીમદ્જીનો પરિચય થયો! તેઓનાં શ્રીમુખેથી વહેતાં કરુણાસભર નિઃસ્પૃહ પારમાર્થિક બોધવચનો સાંભળતાં તેઓશ્રીના અનુગ્રહે વિવેક-વિચારણા શરૂ થઈ. દ્રષ્ટિ બદલાઈ ગઈ, અભિગમ બદલાયો. શ્રીમદ્જીની કૃપાથી મારામાં રહેલો એ તીવ્ર ક્રોધ કષાય સહજતાથી ઘણે અંશે મોળો પડ્યો. હવે એવો સરળભાવ વર્તે છે કે કોઈ મારું ગમે તેટલું વાંકુ બોલે તો પણ તેનો ખેદ મને થતો નથી, અને સૌની સાથે નાના બાળકની માફક લઘુત્વભાવે વર્તવાનું થાય છે. લોકોમાં મારી છાપ સકારાત્મક બની છે કે વ્રજભાઈ તો તદ્દન બદલાઈ જ ગયા છે! પહેલાં જે લોકો મારો સંગ કરવાનું ટાળતા, તે જ લોકો હવે મારા પર ઘણી જ ચાહના રાખે છે. મારું જીવન આનંદમય બની ગયું છે. આ સઘળો પ્રતાપ સદગુરુદેવ પરમકૃપાળુ શ્રીમદ્ રાજચંદ્ર ભગવાનનો જ છે.

The following incident demonstrates Shrimad’s boundless compassion for all beings.

This miraculous event took place when Shrimad was staying with me in the mountainous region of Dharampur. At the time, a British political agent was visiting our ruler’s territory and a hunting expedition had been organised in his honour.

Shrimad’s selfless love and compassion for all beings flows like a pure eternal spring. Due to his divine presence no animals were harmed in the hunt for the time that he dwelled in the region. It was only after Shrimad left that we heard news of the hunters finding some success. Just the presence of a self-realised saint is enough to offer unique refuge!

કૃપાળુદેવના યોગબળે દૈવી રક્ષણ

શ્રીમદ્ અને શ્રી રણછોડભાઈ ધારશીભાઈ, ધરમપુર

કૃપાળુદેવની અપાર કરુણા દર્શાવતો આ એક અદ્ભૂત પ્રસંગ છે. તેઓશ્રીનો મુકામ જયારે ધરમપુરના પહાડી પ્રદેશમાં અમારી સાથે હતો તે જ અરસામાં અમારા રાજ્યની મુલાકાતે એક પોલીટિકલ એજેન્ટ પણ પધાર્યા હતા. તે સાહેબના સન્માન અર્થે શિકારની ગોઠવણ કરવામાં આવી હતી. પણ જ્યાં પરમ કૃપાળુદેવના આત્મામાંથી નિઃસ્વાર્થ પ્રેમ અને કરુણાનો અત્યંત નિર્મળ ઝરો અવિરત વહેતો હોય ત્યાં જીવમાત્રને દૈવી રક્ષણ મળ્યા વિના કેમ રહે? પરમકૃપાળુદેવ જ્યાં સુધી એ પ્રદેશમાં રહ્યા ત્યાં સુધી તેઓના હૃદયના શુદ્ધ વાત્સલ્યના પ્રભાવે, તેઓના ઉત્કૃષ્ટ યોગબળે એ પ્રદેશમાં એક પણ શિકાર મળી શક્યો નહીં અને મૂંગા પશુઓને દિવ્ય રક્ષણ મળતું રહ્યું! પરમકૃપાળુદેવના ગયા પછી શિકાર મળ્યાના સમાચાર સાંભળ્યા હતા. જ્ઞાનીપુરુષોની દિવ્ય ઉપસ્થિતિ પણ કેવું અનન્ય શરણ આપે છે !

The Barber Shaves All of Shrimad's Hair

 The following incident took place when Shrimad Rajchandra was in the city of Nadiad. At this time truth seeker Motilal Bhavsar was at his service.

It had been a month since Shrimad had shaved. Upon his request, Motilal called for a barber and instructed him as follows, “Do not speak with Sahibji  and do a quick but neat job. Sahibji does not appreciate waste of time.” After this Motilal went to prepare Shrimad’s bath.

When the barber approached Shrimad, he found him in a deep state of meditation. The barber thought to himself, “Shrimadji seems to be a highly elevated soul, I should shave off all his hair as is common practice amongst great saints.”  As he was instructed to remain silent, the barber did not utter a single word and shaved Shrimad’s head, beard and moustache! Completely unaware of the barber’s mistake, Shrimad continued to dwell peacefully in deep meditation.

Oh! What an extraordinary meditative state Shrimad resides in! Shrimad’s highly elevated sense of detachment is indeed remarkable!

શ્રીમદ્ જીના દાઢી, મૂંછ અને શિર બધું જ મૂંડી નાંખ્યું!

શ્રીમદ્ અને મોતીલાલ ભાવસર, નડિયાદ

શ્રીમદ્જી જયારે નડિયાદ મુકામે હતા ત્યારે મુમુક્ષુ મોતીલાલ ભાવસાર તેઓની સેવામાં હતા. એ વખતે શ્રીમદ્જીની હજામત એક મહિનાની થઈ હતી. તેઓની આજ્ઞાથી મોતીભાઈએ હજામને બોલાવ્યો અને તેને શ્રીમદ્જી પાસે મોકલતાં સૂચન કર્યું કે, ‘સાહેબજી સાથે વાતચીત કર્યા વગર ઝડપથી અને વ્યવસ્થિત રીતે હજામત કરી લેજે; કારણ કે વધુ સમય જાય તે સાહેબજીને ઠીક લાગતું નથી.’  ત્યાર બાદ મોતીભાઈ શ્રીમદ્જીના સ્નાન માટેની વ્યવસ્થા કરવા ગયા. તે દરમિયાન, હજામ જયારે શ્રીમદ્જી પાસે પહોંચ્યો ત્યારે તેઓ આત્મસ્વભાવમાં ધ્યાનમગ્ન હતા. હજામે તો મળેલી સૂચના પ્રમાણે કંઈ પણ પૂછ્યા વિના ‘શ્રીમદજી તો મહાત્મા પુરુષ છે જેથી બધું જ સાફ કરી નાંખવાનું હશે’ તેમ ધારી શ્રીમદ્જીના દાઢી, મૂંછ અને શિર બધું જ મૂંડી નાંખ્યું! હજામત દરમિયાન પણ શ્રીમદ્જીએ હજામને કાંઈ કહ્યું નહીં. અહો! શ્રીમદ્જીની કેવી અદભૂત સમાધિસ્થ દશા! દેહ પ્રત્યેનો કેવો અનાસક્ત ભાવ !!

Scatter Your Salutations Across the Universe

One day, Motibhai of Anand came to pay his respects to Shrimad Rajchandra. He wanted to ask Shrimad 14 questions that had arisen in his mind. Motibhai had carefully written these questions on a piece of paper which he had tucked safely inside his turban.

That morning, when Motibhai arrived, Shrimad was giving a discourse to a group of truth seekers. Motibhai had not yet asked his questions but was surprised when he found accurate and heartwarming answers to all of them in Shrimad’s preachings which emerged from Shrimad’s limitless pure conscience and his detached state of being. A deeply impressed Motibhai thanked Shrimad with folded hands and praised him greatly.

After this divine experience, Motibhai was moved to bow down at Shrimad’s feet when a doubt held him back. He thought,  Shrimad is still a householder, how can I pay my obeisance to him? As soon as Motibhai had this thought, Shrimad intuitively said, “Motibhai, I do not want your salutations. They do not bring any benefit to me, nor do I desire to be worshipped or praised. Instead, let your salutations be scattered across the entire universe!”
After hearing these priceless words, Motibhai was convinced that Shrimad was a highly elevated soul. He was also certain Shrimad possessed extraordinary clairvoyant powers as Shrimad not only read his thoughts accurately but also answered all the 14 questions that had arisen in his mind.

તમારા નમસ્કાર ચૌદ રાજલોકમાં વેરી નાંખવાના છે

શ્રીમદ્ અને પોપટભાઈ ગુલાબચંદ

એક દિવસ, આણંદવાળા મોતીભાઈ પરમકૃપાળુદેવના દર્શન કરવા આવ્યા હતા. તેઓ પોતાના મનમાં ઉઠેલા ચૌદ પ્રશ્નો શ્રીમદ્દજીને પૂછવા માટે એક ચિઠ્ઠીમાં લખીને લાવ્યા હતા. તે પ્રશ્નોની ચિઠ્ઠી તેમણે પોતાની પાઘડીમાં ખોસેલી  હતી. તેઓ જયારે પહોંચ્યા ત્યારે  પરમકૃપાળુદેવ મુમુક્ષુઓને બોધ આપી રહ્યા હતા. ત્યાં તે સમયે મોતીભાઈએ શ્રીમદ્જીને પોતાના પ્રશ્નો પૂછ્યા નહીં, છતાં અત્યંત નિર્મળ ચારિત્ર્યવાન એવા પરમ કૃપાળુદેવના શુદ્ધ અંતઃકરણમાંથી નિઃસ્પૃહ ભાવે નીકળતા બોધ દ્વારા જ મોતીભાઈને પોતાના બધાં જ પ્રશ્નોનું સચોટ અને હૃદયસ્પર્શી નિરાકરણ મળી ગયું ! પ્રભાવિત થયેલા મોતીભાઈએ પરમકૃપાળુદેવ પ્રત્યે હાથ જોડીને તેમનો આભાર માન્યો અને ખૂબ પ્રશંસા કરી.

ત્યારબાદ તેઓ પરમ કૃપાળુદેવના ચરણોમાં વંદન કરવા ઇચ્છતા હતા, પરંતુ તેઓના મનમાં સંશય જાગ્યો કે “આ પુરુષ તો ગૃહસ્થાવાસમાં છે, તેમને નમસ્કાર શી રીતે થઈ શકે?” તેઓના મનમાં આવા ભાવ ઉઠતાં જ સહજ રીતે પરમકૃપાળુદેવે તેઓને જણાવ્યું કે “મોતીભાઈ, તમારા નમસ્કાર અમારે જોઈતા નથી. તેનો કંઈ પૈસો ઉપજતો નથી, તેમ અમારે કાંઈ પુજાવું-મનાવું નથી. તમારા નમસ્કાર ચૌદ રાજલોકમાં વેરી નાંખવાના છે !!”  આવા અમૂલ્ય વચનો સાંભળતા મોતીભાઈને દ્રઢતા થઈ કે શ્રીમદ્દજી એક મહાત્મા પુરુષ છે અને જે રીતે તેઓશ્રીએ મોતીભાઈના મનના વિચારો જણાવવાની સાથોસાથ તેમના મનમાં રહેલા ચૌદે-ચૌદ પ્રશ્નોનું સમાધાન પણ કર્યું, તે ઉપરથી, શ્રીમદ્દજી મનઃપર્યવ-આદિ જ્ઞાનોના ધણી છે, એમ મોતીભાઈને વિશ્વાસ થયો.

The Employer and the Help

A native of Morbi, named Lallu, had been working as Shrimad Rajchandra’s domestic helper for many years. When Lallu was diagnosed with a malignant tumor, Shrimad decided to take complete care of him and nursed him till his very final moments. He would place Lallu’s head on his lap and stroke his hair gently.

Shrimad says, “When someone hires a domestic worker, their intention is to make him work more than what he is being paid for. Due to difficult financial circumstances and other limitations, the worker is unable to start his own business or pursue another profession. Although, he is capable of doing so, he does not have the capital to start with.

An employer, whose intention is to trick the helper into working more for lesser pay, is considered even more lowly and miserable than the helper himself. Therefore, a person who wishes their domestic help well, offers support when needed, shares the workload when the worker is overburdened and is compassionate, is the most ideal employer.”

શેઠ અને નોકર

મુંબઈ

મોરબીનો વતની, લલ્લુ નામનો નોકર, ઘણાં વર્ષોથી શ્રીમદ્જીને ત્યાં કામ કરી રહ્યો હતો. મુંબઈમાં હતો ત્યારે તેને કૅન્સરની ગાંઠ નીકળી હતી. શ્રીમદ્જી તે લલ્લુ નોકરની જાતે સારવાર કરતા. પોતાના ખોળામાં તેનું માથું મૂકી અંત સુધી તેની સંભાળ તેમણે લીધી હતી.

શ્રીમદ્ કહેતા : "જ્યારે કોઈ શેઠ એક ગરીબ વ્યક્તિને નોકર તરીકે રાખે છે, ત્યારે તે શેઠ નોકરના પગાર કરતાં વધારે કામ લેવાની બુદ્ધિથી એની સાથે વ્યવહાર કરે છે. નોકર ગરીબ સ્થિતિમાં હોવાથી, તે વેપાર આદિ કરી શકતો નથી. જોકે તે માણસ વેપાર આદિ કરી શકે તેમ છે, પરંતુ ધંધો કરવા માટે મૂડી નહીં હોવાથી નોકરી કરે છે.

નોકર પાસેથી પગાર કરતાં વધારે લાભ મેળવવાની બુદ્ધિ રાખે, તો તે શેઠ નોકર કરતાં પણ વધારે દરિદ્ર, ભીખ માંગનાર જેવો પામર ગણાય. શેઠ જો નોકર પ્રત્યે એવી ભાવના રાખે કે આ પણ મારા જેવો થાય, શેઠ તેને જોઈતી સહાય કરે, નોકર પર કામનો ઘણો બોજો હોય તો તે વખતે તેને કામમાં મદદ કરે અને નોકર માટે હૃદયમાં અનુકંપા હોય તો તે શેઠ શ્રેષ્ઠ ગણાય.”
